Be Going To and Will
Be going to dan will sering digunakan dalam future tense. Untuk sekadar info, ini perbedaannya:
A. Be going to
(+) S + to be + going to + verb + ....
(-) S + to be + not + going to + verb + ....
(?) To be + S + going to + verb + .... ?
Kalian dapat menggunakan Be going to saat:
1. We have a plan (saat kalian memiliki rencana)
Example :
Kate : Anna is in Hospital.
Jane : I know, I am going to visit her tomorrow
2. We have decided to do something (saat kalian memutuskan untuk melakukan sesuatu)
Example :
Brian : Are you turn on the television?
Pear : Yes, I am going to watch the television
3. To talk about a planned activity for future (membicarakan rencana yang akan dilakukan kedepannya)
Example :
Willy : Why is Betty
in a hurry?
Jorsh : Because she
is going to meet her brother at the station at six.
4. For prediction in the near future (untuk prediksi dalam waktu dekat)
Example :
Bill : I feel cold.
Doni : Look at those
black clouds. It is going to rain.
B. Will
(+) S + will + verb + ....
(-) S + will + not + verb + ....
(?) Will + S + verb + .... ?
Digunakan saat:
1. When we decide to do something at the time of speaking (ketika kalian memutuskan sesuatu saat berbicara)
Example :
A: What would you like to
drink, sir?
B: I will have a glass of milk, please.
2. For requests, invitations and offers (Untuk permintaan,undangan, dan penawaran)
Example :
Will you shut the
door, please? (Request)
Will you come to the cinema with me? (Invitation)
That bag looks very heavy. I will help you. (Offer)
3. To express promise (untuk mengungkapkan harapan)
Example :
I will study medicine at university.
I will pass the final examination.
4. For prediction with the following verbs and phrases (Untuk prediksi kata kerja dan frasa berikut):
Believe , expect , hope ,
think , wonder , I’m sure , I’m afraid ...etc
Example :
I believe he will pass the exam.
I hope he won’t (will not) leave us.
I am afraid he will fail the exam.
Do you think they will divorce?
